Update of sorts...

I had to delete the Nesting Article post because the advertisement was driving me crazy! Besides, they can't use my blog as free advertisement! (My blog with my 7 followers - thanks followers of my blog! You're the best)!

It has been a long time since I have written a blog. Little Huitzil was born, as all of you probably know and she's about 3 and a half months old. I STILL have not had a full night's rest since Little Huitzil's birth, but that's okay.... I have to remind myself that one day she'll be off in college and I'll be sad and have more time on my hands than I know what to do with. (In the meantime, however, I would like just 8 hours of time and I know exactly what I will do with them - sleep!)

We finished our 7th summer program last month and can finally breathe a bit during August (even though we are busy with evaluations, end of the year reports, and planning for next year).

My blog is boring, I think. If I weren't me, I wouldn't want to read it. I'm told the best blogs are written by people who aren't afraid to talk about their FEELINGS...! Uh, maybe next time...La dee dah... (that's me singing nervously to avoid eye contact, which is ridiculous, because this is a blog...) Okay, I need sleep now.

Cesar Chavez Day

Happy Cesar Chavez Day! It's an honor to celebrate him! ...but don't take my word for it - instead take the word of the man in almost every Latino film ever produced (Edward James Olmos):

"Cesar Chavez deserves to be honored with a National Holiday. His life is a beacon of light toward the advancements of all cultures. He gave more than he ever received. Lived the life of one who is truly enlightened by the wisdom embodied in love, kindness and forgiveness. He, like Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., Mother Teresa and others understood the meaning of non violent social change and used it to elevate the Human Condition. His life should be nurtured into our future and emulated by generations to come. Cesar Chavez is truly a gift to humanity and we as a nation should celebrate his life at least once a year, by way of a National Legal Holiday. We ALL deserve it!" Edward James Olmos, January 2008

Nahui Goes To School

Nahui-pops at 2 and a half years. (Please excuse the toilet in the background! Hahaha~!) We took her with us on a tour of a potential daycare/school and she insisted on bringing her little Dora backpack with wheels. She looked so official! On our way out, the lady who gave us the tour handed her the information folder and she was holding it in one hand and rolling her little backpack with the other. I asked her if she needed help, but she said "No, I do it." When Nikishna was putting her in her car seat, she said, "I like it, the school." Sigh. They grow up so fast...

January 2010

We have just returned from dropping the kiddies off in Arizona. Although it was a long drive, it seems to have gone by so quickly - much like our entire Christmas vacation. I was starting to get sad yesterday when I realized the time had come to take them back. I wanted to cry at the boys' group home, but I figured I shouldn't upset them, so I waited until we were in the car driving back. It gets to me when I see them waving from their little window... It was interesting to see how quickly they settled back into their solemn, serious roles once we arrived at the group home, when only moments before, they had been playing and acting silly.

Spending the two weeks with them was fun and a helpful preview of what it would be like when they're here. It seemed like we were always so busy - even when we weren't really doing anything. The time flew by! Part of me was thinking, "I can do this!" and another part of me was thinking, "Whoa, this is so much work and I have another one on the way - aaaahhh!" I will try to upload photos of our two weeks soon - we did so much and everyone had a good time. As soon as we arrived at home, Nahui looked in the rooms and said "I want the Honunu" Poor Nahui! After all that excitement and attention, she is once again an only child, sort of.

Baby Huitzil is making her presence known! She is doing all kinds of somersaults and kicks - I believe her and Nahui will be an awesome duo... She received a cute little outfit for Christmas and everything is falling into place for her arrival... (not just because of the cute little outfit, of course, but that was a major marker in my mind, hahaha!)
